My birthday is 7/7 and this is the year I turn 40
so of course my kind friends will be throwing me an “over the hill” party. I should call in sick. 
Back to your question, I have had in the past fun with those “How to host a murder” parties. Even though it has just the main 8 characters the rest of your guests can still dress accordingly. You could also have a Hawaiian theme-sandals, margaritas, leis, etc. Or a time capsule party-where everyone puts something in (thought, headline, picture, wish) and next year you could open it up again and send each person back what they put in for a happy reminder of your party.
