  1. QWERTY Says:

First - that is way to long of a list. It would take too much time to rate every movie. I will list the few I’ve seen (movies stink these days) and let you know if they are good or not.
    Crash - unsetteling, violent
A Beautiful Mind - good, intelligent
Shakespeare in Love - cute, kind of a chick flick
The English Patient - a beautiful movie, but brutal, I didn’t really care for it
Schindlers list - the book is better
Silence of the Lambs - great acting, violent
Dance with the Wolves - beautiful, violent
Driving Miss Daisy - great acting, sweet movie
Rain Man - great acting (especially Dustin Hoffman), good movie
Out of Africa - I love the combination of Robert Redford and (I can’t think of her name), really beatiful and emotional movie
Amadeus - Good acting, good movie
Annie Hall - dated but good movie
Rocky - the first one is really good
One flew over the cuckoos Nest - Great Acting, Great Movie
The Sting - Never a better combination of Actors in my opinion Robert Redford and Paul Newman
It’s a Mad Mad Mad World - dated and not very funny
Top Gun - overrated but good flying scenes
Toy story 2 - Love it, my son did too when he was young
Step up 1 and 2 - good movies, not much plot, but liked the dancing
The Sword in the Stone - great book
Pretty in Pink - dated, not very good acting
Footloose - great dancing scenes, acting leaves a lot to be disired
The Aviator - good movie, great acting
Pollock - wonderful acting, great story
As Good as it Gets - same old stuff from Jack Nicholson, overall the movie is good but Jack is too old now for that type of part
Good Will Hunting - how many times can you say the “F” word, lost it’s luster because of it.
What Lies Beneath - good psycological thriller
    Chicken run - very cute
The Sixth Sense - another great psycological thriller, one of the best
Theres Something about Mary - stupid, terrible acting
Stepmom - a little sappy but good feature actors
The first wives club - a man bashing movie, not bad for a saturday afternoon
    Ransome
Back to the future - dated but cute
The colour purple - overrated but if you like mega movies this is one
    E.T. - adoreable!
Ghostbusters - My son still loves these movies
    Valley girl - totally…not!
Die hard - Action packed, not much plot
Moulin rouge - I thought I’d hate it but ended up liking it a lot. The male lead could have been played by someone with a better singing voice and that annoyed me.
Casino royal - The original (in the 60’s) LOVED it.
When Harry met sally - cute chick flick
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The piano - good movie, I don’t remember much about it though, great acting
The Truman show - I liked it
Dirty dancing - very dated but good movie, lousey acting
Big (1988) - Not a kids movie, I had forgotten the sex scene and underlying sexual talk
Big Chill, The (1983) - dated but love the music score
Dead poets society - good movie, I love Robin Williams
Dirty Harry - One of my favorite movies
Brother bear - loved it, great story
A fish called Wanda - stupid
40 year old virgin - ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WATCH
Groundhog Day - cute chick flick
What woman want - good movie, chick flick but I did let out a few ahhs
Runaway bride - another good movie, chick flick
Sex in the city - good, chick flick, not all that
Notting hill - I really liked it and have seen it several times, I love London anyway and Julia and ? are good together
    Arthur - sweet sweet movie
Music and lyrics - silly but was ok for a saturday afternoon
Must love dogs - cute, chick flick
I would like to add “A Beautiful Life” one of the best movies I’ve EVER seen.

I love you. You pretty much have all my favourite movies there.
I don’t really have the nerve to suggest anything incase it’s already up there and I’ve missed it.
    Um.. Love Actually.
pretty much any Disney cartoon/classic movie you haven’t seen needs to be up there!
I would scratch off Grease 2 if I were you, it’s a cringe-worthy movie. In fact, it may be a suicide-worthy movie to some.
10 Things I Hate About You is a good one.
Twilight is a fantasy highschool romance about vampires, it’s in cinemas in November.
    Forrest Gump? lol.
I own over a thousand DVDs, so its hard to keep track of them all.

  6. mhatter Says:

Wow - thats an impressive list. (Many are on my shelves!) But the vast majority seem to be from the past fifteen years of films… Here are a few earlier ones for you to consider:
Citizen Kane - still considered the best movie EVER made
    The Little Foxes
    Metropolis
    The Magnificent Ambersons
    Gigi
    Jezabel
    12 Angry Men
    Lion in the Winter

  9. The Catcher in the Rye Says:

It looks like you do not have any special preference about genre but for sure some of the films you put in your list were really no well ranked for both critics and public. If you really love movies and look for the list of the ten best movies of all times (some of them not in English but with subtitles, even some are silent like The Gold Rush) and OSCAR awards and nominees (some people criticize this event but in general they have very good selections)
